I am so glad Natural Med Doc exists! I've been a patient for over a year and half and my hormone issues have improved drastically! Dr. Bennett is wonderful. She listens to your concerns, she makes great recommendations and she is very thorough when going over labs. I've never had that with other doctors before. Despite the fact that insurance does not cover this, the expense is well worth it. I would highly recommend coming here if you do not want to put synthetic hormone meds in your body!
3 months of visits to Natural Med Doc has made good improvements to my health. They have uncovered issues I didn’t even know were important to healing. Already I have felt improved energy and have lost weight. Thank you Dr Richardson for believing in me.
I love Dr. Garcia. She’s amazing. She has got me back on track and makes me feel 100% better. The supplements and check-in are so helpful. Finally, somebody has listened and used science to help me and it’s working.

Perimenopause and Menopause Health Concerns

During menopause and the transitional phase known as perimenopause, a significant change occurs in a woman's hormone levels. Perimenopause, the phase leading up to menopause, can start as early as in your late 30s, however, symptoms often begin 8 to 10 years before menopause fully sets in. The first hormone to typically show a decrease during this phase is progesterone.

That's why, for many patients in their 40s, supporting progesterone levels becomes a key focus of their healthcare plan. This drop in progesterone particularly impacts the brain's GABA activity. As progesterone levels fall, GABA activity decreases, potentially making individuals more prone to anxiety, stress, and related symptoms like restlessness and sleep disturbances.

We offer comprehensive sex hormone testing (estradiol, estrone, progesterone, testosterone free and total) for women in this stage of their life.

Although conventional providers may attempt to run these labs they often do not understand how to read them much less how to optimize the lab values.

We offer bioidentical hormone replacement which is highly effective at clearing menopausal symptoms with a great safety profile compared to conventional providers who have less experience with hormone replacement and tend to offer commercial grade and synthetic hormones which yield lesser results with high side effect profiles.

Naturopathic medicine emphasizes prevention and supports the body's innate healing ability. This holistic, personalized approach to healthcare draws patients in search of a more natural and preventative approach to medical care.

What are the Benefits of a Naturopathic Approach to Menopause?

Utilize innovative, data-driven health services to assist you in attaining optimal well-being and detecting early signs of perimenopause and menopause symptoms with our natural doctors in Scottsdale.

For women with consistent monthly menstrual cycles, it is advisable to conduct sex hormone testing during the mid-luteal phase, which typically occurs approximately one week (around 5 to 7 days) after ovulation. In a 28-day menstrual cycle, this timeframe would typically fall on days 18, 19, 20, 21, or 22 (we adjust the timing of the blood work, tailored to your luteal phase peak).  During this phase, progesterone levels should reach their monthly peak, while estrogen should be at the height of its luteal plateau. We receive valuable insights into your cycle at this time and any imbalances in ovulation that may occur.

Natural Med Doc excels in formulating personalized treatment approaches for various issues, including thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances, obesity, PCOS, IBS, menopause, and more.

Our experienced naturopathic doctors can tackle the symptoms of these health complications, such as hot flashes and night sweats, irregular menstrual cycles, mood swings, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness and discomfort, fatigue, weight gain, changes in libido, urinary changes, and cognitive changes.

At our clinic, reaching peak health and mitigating these symptoms is a seamless experience. We adeptly craft a tailor-made treatment plan that accommodates your unique requirements and everyday habits.

FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

What is menopause?

Menopause is a natural biological process that marks the end of a woman's menstrual cycles and fertility. It usually occurs in the late 40s or early 50s.

What are the common symptoms of menopause?

Common symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, irregular menstrual cycles, mood swings, sleep disturbances, skin laxity, brain fog, vaginal dryness, changes in libido, and hair loss.

How long does menopause last?

The transition into menopause, known as perimenopause, can last several years. Once a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, she is considered postmenopausal.

Can menopause be treated?

While menopause itself is a natural process and phase of life -not a condition that requires treatment- symptoms can be actively managed.  Non synthetic Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and lifestyle changes are common approaches.

How can I manage hot flashes and night sweats?

Strategies include dressing in layers, staying cool, avoiding triggers like spicy foods, and practicing stress-reduction techniques.

Are there natural remedies for menopause symptoms?

Some women find relief from symptoms through natural remedies such as herbal supplements, dietary changes, and mindfulness practices which we recommend.  Non synthetic hormone replacement in conjunction with the above can provide further relief while also reducing risk of dementia, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular disease commonly affecting individuals later in life.
